Building Progress Construction of the Centre began on 18 October 2010 and was completed on 17 October 2011. The project’s completion marked an important milestone in Carterton’s history - for the first time in 130 years, a new community facility has been built in the town. This page shows building progress over the 12-month construction period. The $5.9 million contract for the project was awarded to Wairarapa company, Holmes Construction. The project architect was Opus Architecture. The Carterton Events Centre Trust is committed to raising the $1.5 million needed to help fund the Centre’s construction.
