Join our local Wairarapa MP, Kieran McAnulty, for the first walk of the 2022 Festival: 3.6km along a flat trail round Henley Lake. Henley Lake is at the centre of 43 hectares of wetlands and native plantings in Masterton. Over 72 different bird species have been recorded. The lake is artificial and was filled in 1987. A wide range of activities take place on the lake and it’s a very popular walking place, with flat lime paths encircling the lake. The Henley Trust works with Masterton District Council, Masterton Rotary and others to enhance the area for wildlife and for people. It lies between the Waipoua and Ruamahanga Rivers. Location: Henley Lake entrance, Te Ore Ore Road, Masterton Length: 1.6 km 20 mins short loop, or 55mins total (add 1.85km) Coordinating Club: Henley Trust
