The Central Cancer Network (CCN) was established in 2007 alongside three other Networks across the country to ensure all providers of care in our region work together with our communities to improve the experiences and outcomes for people and whānau affected by cancer.
CCN’s region includes the populations of Taranaki, Whanganui, MidCentral, Hawkes Bay, Wairarapa, Hutt Valley and Capital and Coast.
Cancer is the leading cause of death in Aotearoa/New Zealand. The number of those affected by cancer is forecast to increase by 50% in the next 15 years, primarily driven by a growing and ageing population. Māori populations have higher rates of preventable cancers, worse survival and higher death rates than other New Zealanders. The Central Cancer Network (CCN) is committed to working together with Māori and Stakeholders to improve cancer outcomes.
A Meeting will be held here in Wairarapa giving our people an exciting opportunity to have their say on “What Do We Do Well”, “What Don’t We do Well”, “What Can We Do Better”. Local organisations like Cancer Society, Whaiora and Tū Ora Compass Health to name a few are contributing towards the success of this Meeting.
