Avenoir, a unique and innovative Dance Performance choreographed by Jenire, delves into the idea of what life would be like experienced backwards. Knowing all your memories, the good and the bad before they happen. Seeing those past rejoin your life again. Going back to the joyful and innocent days of childhood. Though does going backwards mean you are slowly losing these memories, is this seen as a peaceful or empty ending. Is the unknown of one’s life journey really a curse or is it a blessing.
Amelia Butcher, a contemporary dancer and choreographer based in Carterton/Taratahi, was the recipient of the inaugural Wairarapa Events Centre Artist Residency earlier this year. We are very excited to see this spectacular performance return to our stage after time was spent developing it here
